Sarah Wenban Wedding Photography - Frequently Asked Questions

how it all works...

1. get in touch

Drop me an email …details on the “contact” page and let me know your wedding date, venue (both for your ceremony & celebrations afterwards), number of guests and any other delicious details about your day. I will then reply to let you now if I have your date available

2. any questions?

We can then set up a video call so we can chat about your wedding and you can ask me any thoughts or questions you may have

3. let’s book!

If you decide to book, I will send email you an invoice for a 25% booking deposit, along with my standard terms & conditions to look through. Once this is paid and the contract is signed, you will be all booked in!

Here are some typical questions that I often get asked:

WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND WILL YOU TRAVEL FAR TO PHOTOGRAPH A WEDDING?

I am based in Uckfield in East Sussex but am really happy to travel to any location within the UK and abroad. Travel costs are included within Sussex.

Further afield weddings will be an additional charge with a possible over night accommodation charge.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?

Yes to hold the date, I require 25% of the fee to book your day, with the balance due 4 weeks before your wedding. I would send you my contract, booking info and an invoice for your booking deposit, along with my bank details for making a transfer payment. Once the booking deposit has been received, I will send you the contract to digitally sign via DocuSign.

WOULD WE MEET UP AGAIN BEFORE OUR WEDDING?

Yes ideally around 3-4 weeks prior to your day we would have a pre-planning meeting, preferably at your venue to discuss timings, final arrangements and any specific shots that you would like to have.  Also if you would like to book a pre-shoot, then we would arrange a date for that before your wedding so that we can spend more time getting to know each other, to help you feel at ease in front of the camera.

WILL YOU TAKE FORMAL GROUP SHOTS?

Yes... although my style is for more relaxed group shots and I am always happy to shoot them but recommend that you limit the shots to around 8 groups to allow time for the lovely informal, natural shots of everyone having a great time.  But totally up to you if you prefer to have more set-up group shots and you have enough time in your schedule.

HOW LONG SHOULD WE ALLOW FOR OUR COUPLES PORTRAITS ON THE DAY?

Time alone together newly married is precious and a wonderful opportunity for you to relax with each other and step away briefly from all the hurly burley and take it all in.  I would say around 20-30 minutes is great to take some really special shots, which I would ideally shoot in two sessions on your day… usually at the end of your drinks reception and also after your wedding breakfast (hopefully catching some gorgeous evening light!).  But always happy to go with the flow and would take other available opportunities to do shots of you together as they arise throughout the day.

DO WE NEED A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

A second shooter will be required if both partners want to have getting ready pictures, if you are getting ready at different locations. If you would like to have more comprehensive coverage, or if you have 100+ day guests or if you have a long list of group shots then I would recommend adding on a second photographer who I can provide for an additional fee.

DO YOU DO VIDEOGRAPHY?

No I am purely a stills photographer, but I do have a list of professional videographers that I have previously worked with and am happy to recommend. If you are not booking a professional videographer, then I would need to be notified in advance so we can discuss their role in taking videos.

HOW LONG UNTIL WE RECEIVE OUR  AFTER OUR WEDDING DAY?

Where possible, I like to send you a gorgeous preview selection a few days after your wedding of around a 50 fab shots which I edit straight away for you. (I am as excited to see them as you are and can't bear to wait!).  Then up to 8 weeks after your wedding I will have the whole selection prepared and send you a link to your online gallery so you can view and share the gallery with your guests. You will also be able to download the high resolution image selection straight to your computer.

HOW LONG WILL OUR GALLERY STAY ON LINE?

Your gallery will stay online for one year from the month you receive it. Option to extend the duration of viewing it at a small extra hosting cost.

WHAT QUALITY WILL THE IMAGES BE?

Images will be prepared as high resolution jpg at 300 ppi print quality.  The files are sized for you to print images up to 12x8” (A3) size.

All images are supplied watermark free, with no logos.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE RECEIVE?

Typically for a whole day of photography, I would supply you with 600+ images in colour, with a really good selection of images prepared in black & white as well.  Happy to work to your personal preference and taste and supply accordingly.

DO YOU USE THE IMAGES AFTERWARDS?

I love to be able to share and show off some images from each wedding I shoot, so that other couples and see my work when they are looking for a photographer, just as you did!  This could be on my website and social media.  If you would prefer that your images are not to be shown around, then I understand completely that they are personal to you, and ask that you let me know in advance.  You would always be the first to see them and they would not be shared until you had.

WILL WE OWN OUR PICTURES?

I understand that your wedding pictures should feel yours... you will have the licence to print, upload and share your images for your own personal use (both wedding and pre-shoot selections).  The copyright remains with me as the photographer, which means that you would need to ask permission if you would like to sell them or use for any commercial purposes.

DO YOU OFFER PRINTS?

Yes I do, Prints can be ordered from your online gallery. You and your guests will be able to purchase high quality prints directly from the gallery, in a range of media and sizes if you wish. Sizes start from a 7x5” lab prints up to large scale (A0 size) fine art prints.

DO YOU OFFER ALBUMS OR BOOKS?

Yes, Deluxe Wedding Books or Fine Art Albums can be ordered through me as I will handle the design process for you. A proof would be supplied for you to check the layout before the book or album is sent off to be printed. I would be very happy to show you some samples and I have details I can send you on options and pricing.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes, I have inclusive Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance and can provide proof if your venue requires to see it.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ILL LAST MINUTE?

Horrible to think about, but I am human!  I have a network of other locally based professional wedding photographers who I would endeavour to call on at short notice to step in as back up.  They all have a similar approach to me.

I hope this is helpful and if you have any other questions or thoughts at all, please get in touch.
