how it all works...
Here are some questions that I often get asked:
Where are you based and will you travel far to photograph a wedding?
I am based in Uckfield in East Sussex but am really happy to travel to any location within the UK and abroad.
What is the first move?
If you like the style of my work and think it is along the lines of what you would like to have for your day then hopefully we can meet up for a coffee and chat through your plans and photography aspirations for your special day. We can then agree on a suitable package based on your individual requirements. If it is not possible to meet, we can arrange a Skype or FaceTime chat initially ... or even a good old fashioned phone call.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes to hold the date, I would require 25% of the fee to book your day, with the balance due 2 weeks before your wedding. I would send you my contract and an invoice for your deposit, along with my bank details for making the payment.
Would we meet up again before our wedding?
Yes ideally around 2 weeks prior to your day we would have a planning meeting, preferably at your venue to discuss timings, final arrangements and any specific shots that you would like to have. Also if you have a pre-shoot included in your package, then we would arrange a date for that before your wedding so that we can spend more time getting to know each other, to help you feel at ease in front of the camera.
Will you take formal group shots?
Yes... although my style is for more relaxed group shots and I am always happy to shoot them but recommend that you limit the shots to around 6-8 groups to allow time for the lovely informal shots of everyone having a great time. But totally up to you if you prefer to have more set-up group shots.
How long should we allow for our couple portraits on the day?
Time alone together newly married is precious and a wonderful opportunity for you to relax with each other. I would say around 20-30 minutes is great to take some really special shots. But always happy to go with the flow and would take other available opportunities to do shots of you together as they arise throughout the day.
How long until we receive our pictures after our wedding day?
Where possible, I like to send you a sneak peek the next day after your wedding of around a dozen fab shots which I edit straight away for you. (I am as excited to see them as you are and can't bear to wait!). Then up to 8 weeks after your wedding I will have the whole selection prepared and send you a link to your online gallery and also post you the usb with the high resolution selection on it. If you are having a book, then I would prepare the layout and send you a proof to view and make any changes you would like.
What quality will the images be?
Images will be prepared as high resolution jpg at 300 ppi print quality. I also supply you with a set as low-res jpg images suitable for email and social media. All images supplied watermark free, with no logos.
How many images will we receive?
Typically for a whole day of photography, I would expect to supply you with 500+ images in colour, with selected images in sepia (my trademark) and some b&w as well. Happy to work to your personal preference and supply accordingly.
Do you use the images afterwards?
I love to be able to share and show off some images from each wedding I shoot, so that other couples and see my work when they are looking for a photographer, just as you did! This could be on my website, blog and social media. If you would prefer that your images are not to be shown around, then I understand completely that they are personal to you, and I would respect that. You would always be the first to see them and they would not be shared until you had.
Will we own our pictures?
I understand that your wedding pictures should feel yours... you will have the licence to print, upload and share your images for your own personal use (both wedding and pre-shoot selections). The copyright remains with me as the photographer, which means that you would need to ask permission if you would like to use them for any commercial purposes.
Are you insured?
Yes, I have full Public Liability (up to 3 million limit) and full Professional Indemnity insurance and can provide proof if your venue requires to see it.
What happens if you are ill at the last minute?
Horrible to think about, but I am human! I have a network of other local professional wedding photographers who I would trust to call on at short notice as back up. They all have a similar approach to me.. and they are lovely too!
